OwlPlot Stacker Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026 · Applies to OwlPlot Stacker for Mac and for Windows. The OwlPlot phone app has its own privacy policy.
The short version
OwlPlot Stacker collects no personal information. It has no account, no analytics and no advertising, and it does not upload your photos. Stacking, checking and editing all happen on your computer, and the app does not connect to the internet on its own.
Who we are
OwlPlot Stacker is made by MaplePlot Inc. (formerly Glucoplate Inc.), a corporation under the Canada Business Corporations Act ("we" or "us"). We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What stays on your computer
The app keeps these on your computer only, and never sends them to us:
- Your photos, and the stacks and exports you make from them. Stacks are saved in an "OwlPlot Stacks" folder inside the folder you opened.
- The folders you opened recently, so you can open them again.
- Your settings, the sky/ground masks you paint, and the color profiles you make for your cameras.
- A short note if the app quits unexpectedly, so it can offer to report it next time.
On a Mac these live in the app's own sandboxed storage; on Windows in your user folder under AppData\Local\OwlPlot Stacker. Deleting the app removes them (on Windows, delete that folder too if you want them gone).
Feedback and crash reports
Send Feedback, and the offer to report a crash, open a new email in your own mail app for you to read, edit and send, or not. Nothing is sent unless you press Send. The email contains what you write, plus the app version, your operating system and computer model, and the last lines of the stacking engine's output, which can include file and folder names. On a Mac a crash report can also attach the diagnostics macOS recorded. We use what you send only to answer you and to fix the problem, and we delete it when it is no longer needed for that.
Buying the app
Purchases, trials and refunds are handled by the Mac App Store or the Microsoft Store under their own privacy policies. They send us sales totals, not your name or payment details. If you have chosen to share app analytics or crash data with developers in your Apple or Microsoft settings, those companies may pass us anonymous, combined statistics about the app; you can turn that off in your system settings.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If what the app does with information ever changes, we will update this page and its date before the new version ships.
Contact and complaints
